REVIEW SUMMARY
Amulet delivers a super slow burn hypnotic horror that you won’t soon forget! And while the film starts on a rather tedious note, just know the circumstances come full circle by the end, in what becomes a total WTF experience. So, suffice to say, this isn’t your standard horror movie fare, as things are little more complex here, with lots of mind-bending revelations (avoid spoilers for maximum results). But, things are perhaps a little too plodding at times, as the majority of the “action” comes in the final act. It’s worth the wait though! There’s also a handful of truly unsettling imagery and body horror to be found here, with great use of minimal effects to keep the demonic realism on point. The performances are also fun (in a twisted way of course), with Angeliki Papoulia especially sinking her teeth into her role. So, if you are looking to see some alternative horrors on screen that will surely worm their way under your skin, well, Amulet has you covered!
