REVIEW SUMMARY

A smart, sharp and savage whodunit, Bodies Bodies Bodies stands as a surprise Summertime gem for horror and comedy fans alike. For one, the cast is a breath of fresh air for both genres. These aren’t your typical cookie-cutter teen Barbie and Ken lookalikes; these characters make up a glorious gang of modern-day dimwits - each with their own set of toxic vices. There’s a clear satire at hand, and everyone’s phony progressive wokeness makes for one laugh out loud moment after another. Are any of them likeable? Not really, but that’s kinda the point. Also, it must be said that this isn’t the Pete Davidson show (which you might think was the case based on the adverts). Admittedly, Pete is great in his role, even if it basically his real-life persona. For my money, the standout is a sweetly subdued Maria Bakalova, fresh off her breakout turn in Borat 2. On the story front, the movie is purposely (and perfectly) chaotic, giving the audience a true scream – laugh - repeat experience. It’s also genuinely clever, making for plenty of satisfyingly “fun” revelations (especially that end reveal). And while there are still cliched moments to be sure, they are fewer than you’d expect. What you should expect, though, is a bloody hectic good time. Bottoms up!
