U.S. Navy Cmdr. Ernest Krause is assigned to lead an Allied convoy across the Atlantic during World War II. His convoy, however, is pursued by German U-boats. Although this is Krause's first wartime mission, he finds himself embroiled in what would come to be known as the longest, largest and most complex naval battle in history: The Battle of the Atlantic.

REVIEW SUMMARY

To best describe Greyhound, you only need 2 words: tense & taut. This water-based war drama is a white-knuckle viewing experience thanks to some stellar filmmaking craftsmanship. Everything from the visual effects to the musical score are top notch here - not to mention the chaos-enhancing camera techniques. The film is also a rather short one (for this subject matter anyways), clocking in at just over an hour and a half. Perhaps they could have used some of that extra time to add in a little more character development, as that is definitely one thing the movie is missing. Sure, it’s easy to feel (and root) for Tom Hank’s character, as we are given tidbits of information about his personal story, but there is very little known about the others (other than a name or rank). This makes it difficult to truly invest in their overall survival. The good news however, is that the film is packed with enough impressive visuals and harrowing moments to keep you glued in with interest ‘til the very end!
