SYNOPSIS

The film is a sequel to 2017's Happy Death Day, with Jason Blum again serving as a producer through his Blumhouse Productions

College student Tree Gelbman wakes up in horror to learn that she's stuck in a parallel universe, and reliving the same day over and over again… again. Her boyfriend Carter is now with someone else, and her friends and fellow students seem to be completely different versions of themselves. When Tree discovers that Carter's roommate has been altering time, she finds herself once again the target of a masked killer.

REVIEW SUMMARY

Compared to the first film, Happy Death Day 2U is a little wilder, a lot goofier, but thankfully still full of the same silly sci-fi slasher fun. Lets get one thing straight though: this is NOT a conventional horror movie. Like the first instalment, genuine scares are few and far between - on purpose I might add. What we do get, are the filmmakers doubling down on the bonkers sci-fi storyline with a lot more tongue-in-cheek comedy and all around camp. And as you might imagine, the originality factor is all but gone here, but we are presented jusssst enough new and interesting spins on the concept (there are multiverses this time around) to make it a worthy sequel. So in the end, Happy Death Day 2U will likely disappoint fright seekers, but surely entertain audiences looking for an outlandishly fun adventure with a few squirts of blood along the way.
