REVIEW SUMMARY
Chris Williams’ The Sea Beast is brimming with gorgeous animation, thrilling adventure, and wonderful characters! In short, it’s the surprise animated yarn of the Summer. The movie’s story is also really neat. It blends a big monster Kaiju tale with a swashbuckling pirate journey. It also introduces kids to the idea that stories of the past are not always what they seem. Sometimes there are benefits for believing such tales… and sometimes there isn’t. It’s nuanced yes, but it’s still very kid friendly. In fact, it’s accessible for any age. This has a lot to do with the stellar voice work. Karl Urban and Zaris-Angel Hator have perfect chemistry, bringing genuine charm and charisma to their characters. The animation is also top notch, using eye-popping colour and appealing design work. It’s a big ol’ adventure storybook come to life, and you’ll be more than happy that you went for the monster-infused watery ride!
