REVIEW SUMMARY

A big fat hokey platter of comfort viewing, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is not so much a movie as much as it is a series of cheery montages. But here’s the thing, these characters are still fun to watch, and the movie’s sunny nature is admittedly infectious. It also serves as a fitting and heartfelt tribute to the late Michael Constantine’s character. Unfortunately, the humour is hit or miss (much more “misses” by my count) and the story is incredibly lazy at times. There’s way too many characters and schmaltzy sub-plots going on and not nearly enough time given to truly explore any of them. It’s almost as if we’re watching a rough cut of an outline of a movie. But hey, the actors sure look like they were having fun and the authentic Greek scenery adds plenty of picturesque beauty to the screen. Unfortunately, the poor sitcom-level comedy and shoddy filmmaking eclipse the amiable efforts. Hmm, is unnecessary a Greek word?
