REVIEW SUMMARY

Looking for something to warm your soul? Well, good news, Jon Gunn’s Ordinary Angels is a heavenly piece of heartwarming entertainment. Yep, the true to life story makes for a refreshingly positive viewing experience. But, before we get the inevitable happy ending, just know that tears will be shed – a lot of them. Yes, this is the definition of heartstring tugger and what can I say, it tugs hard. But the thing is, the emotional response is earned – not manufactured. The scenario at hand is a heartbreaking one (for both Alan Ritchson and Hilary Swank’s characters). And so, the do-good deeds, sacrifices, and ultimate redemptions add up to one heck of an emotional rollercoaster. Cliched? Sure, but the trope-heavy formula is elevated by some super fine performances. Swank alone adds some extra heft to the proceedings opposite Jack Reacher himself, Alan Ritchson (who carries his own btw). Yes, Ordinary Angels is a feel good (and ambiguously faith-based) flick that will have restore your faith in humanity. And frankly, we can all probably use that right now.
