REVIEW SUMMARY
Perhaps the best way to describe Moritz Mohr’s Boy Kills World is: The Hunger Games mixed with Mortal Kombat, with a side of John Wick. And, as it turns out, that makes for one Hell of an entertaining combination! And that’s really what this movie is, “Entertaining” with a capital E! And for action fans, it’s a must see. This is thanks to some excellent shoot ‘em up fight choreography and unique editing techniques. Yep, the violence is merciless and over-the-top – just the way this critic likes it! Did I mention it’s also quite funny? With Archer’s H. Jon Benjamin serving as the protagonist’s inner voice, the laughs come fast and furious here. However, it’s Bill Skarsgard who deserves big praise for his totally muted performance, as he gets as impressively physical as the best of them. Ok, so are these characters, and this dystopian world, thinly developed? Yeah, but a late in the film twist adds an interesting layer to things. Let’s just say the story ends with a shot of adrenaline and major gusto. So, if you like your vigilante movies with bloody brash flamboyance, then boy oh boy is Boy Kills World just the film for you!
