SYNOPSIS

Based on the true story of a library heist that happened at the Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky in 2004.

Childhood friends Spencer and Warren rebel against their suburban upbringing. They and two fellow students plot to steal a priceless edition of John James Audubon's The Birds of America and other rare books from Transylvania University’s special collections library.

REVIEW SUMMARY

"American Animals is a true to life crime story played out in fascinating fashion. You will laugh at times and be incredibly tense in others. Needless to say it does a very good job at "sucking you in." And while the approach of adding in small documentary-like interview clips with the real life subjects is bold, it manages to mesh well with the story at large. Honestly, this movie is more entertaining than it has any business being - and that's a good thing."
