REVIEW SUMMARY
Back on the Strip is frustratingly (and embarrassingly) unfunny, this despite the impressive lineup of talent assembled. Yes, I'm afraid Chris Spencer’s directorial debut is mildly amusing at best and lazily executed at worst. And while it was likely never destined to be some sort of comedy classic (you know, with a tired plot revolving around a motley crue of male strippers), it could have very easily made for a spicy and silly romp. Alas, it lacks even the basic low hanging laughs that one might expect. What we get is predictable, cheap looking and downright cringey. Some of the actors try their best mind you. Tiffany Haddish can't not be charismatic, J.B Smooth drops some funny reads, and our young lead, Spencer Moore II, is likeable enough. I'm not so sold on everybody else though, including a strangely limp turn from Wesley Snipes. Heck, not even an energetic, fast-talking cameo from Kevin Hart brings the funny. And it's not just the humor that falls flat, as the romance storyline is sadly unaffecting. With poor writing (were they working off a first draft?) and poorer production (Vegas has never looked so small), you'll surely be yawning more than laughing - it won't even be close!
