REVIEW SUMMARY
Bumblebee is as enjoyable as a big sugary bowl of retro Saturday morning cartoon cereal. That is to say, it's fun in all the best ways! Hailee Steinfeld deserves A LOT of credit for bringing real heart to the film with her performance. I can only imagine it's not easy creating a believable bond with a transforming robot alien that talks through radio songs. You'll also notice this film doubles as an effective coming of age film. Who knew? Things are also decidedly leaner than the previously over-stuffed instalments. What we get are less characters, a more focused story, and the best part - an under 2 hour run time! Bumblebee really is a nice breathe of fresh air compared to Michael Bay’s eye ball and eardrum shattering monstrosities. Let's just hope the inevitable sequels don’t go back to polluting things.
