REVIEW SUMMARY
Prepare yourself for a gender (and genre) swapping bloody good time with Blumhouse's latest horror offering: Freaky. And much like another of the studio's supernatural films, Happy Death Day, this is one wild and entertaining bit of silly slasher fun. Ok, so genuine scares are few and far between (especially as the movie moves along), but what we do get are the filmmakers doubling down on the bonkers premise with plenty of tongue-in-cheek comedy thrown in. The mix of horror and comedy is actually impressively seamless, thanks in part to a script full of slasher throwbacks and goofy camp. Of course, the key to making it all work in the end are the actors - in this case Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton. Not only do both nail their respective "body swapped" roles, but genuinely look like they are having a blast in the process! So in the end, Freaky will surely disappoint hardcore fright seekers, but will no doubt entertain everyone else with its outlandishly fun adventure.
