REVIEW SUMMARY
As you might expect given the Seth Rogen and Co. producing team, the Long Shot churns out yet another rom-com that is equal parts sweet and raunchy. The good news is, much like Rogen's other films of this nature (think Knocked Up and Zack and Miri Make a Porno), it all somehow works. It helps that Rogen and Theron have great chemistry together as you’ll ultimately buy into their “Beauty and the Beast” relationship. As for the political world our characters play in, it can be placed somewhere between HBO’s Veep and 1995’s The American President. The story is sadly quite clichéd and predictable though, but it's peppered with enough chuckles and belly laughs to keep it interesting to the very end. Rogen’s trademark raunchy-ness is never overplayed, and actually mixes well with the sweetness of the love story at hand. In the end, the Long Shot gives us it’s best shot, and for the most part, hits the target head on.
