SYNOPSIS
Four repressed, religious teens and a straight-edge projectionist working at a small-town movie theater in the 1990s discover a secret screening room filled with vintage X-rated exploitation films. Playing one of the old film reels unleashes a succubus named Lilith , who attempts to seduce each of them in order to steal their souls.
REVIEW SUMMARY
Don’t get turned off by its title, Porno is one hell of a wildly raunchy and genuinely frightening good time! The film, set in glorious 1992, is part teenage coming of age story, part movie theatre love letter, and part sexual horror creep show. And… it all works. Director Keola Racela easily blends the laughs with the scares here. The sexually repressed teen characters are played quite well by the actors at hand, and Katelyn Pearce, the evil succubus / demon creature, is equally tantalizing, as she is terrifying. That is to say - it’s good stuff from everyone involved. The film’s “effects” are also fun, playing off that 90’s feel and giving way to some delightful onscreen “hypnotics.” But again, be warned, this film will not be for everyone (if the title wasn’t already an indication). There are an abundance of graphic visuals and gruesome content, so at the very least, don’t watch with your parents in the room. But definitely do watch, as Porno is a real pleaser!
