SYNOPSIS
Is a musical retelling of the early life and breakthrough years of legendary rock star Elton John.

REVIEW SUMMARY
Rocketman succeeds by delivering all the pomp and pageantry worthy of an Elton John bio-pic! The glittery splendour that Dexter Fletcher and company bring forth on screen is nothing short of a highly enjoyable, even if clichéd at times, musical romp. But as with musical biographies of this nature, your overall enjoyment level will naturally depend on how much you like (or dislike) the subject’s song list. Lucky for us, Elton John has a varied array of bonafide hits, and even if he doesn't top your musical taste (as is the case with me), you'll be hard pressed not to tap your toes along to the fantastical musical numbers throughout. And much like Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody, Taron Egerton is completely mesmerizing in the lead role, not only nailing the musical icon's look, but perhaps most importantly, his sound. Speaking of Bohemian Rhapsody, you’ll notice this film is shockingly similar in so many ways (story beats / character types / life lessons / heck, even the director), but, seeing how that was an award winning raucous crowd pleaser, I guess that's not such a bad thing!
