This story is told from the perspective of Juliet's cousin Rosaline, who is also Romeo's recent love interest. Heartbroken when Romeo meets Juliet and begins to pursue her, Rosaline schemes to foil the romance and win Romeo back.

REVIEW SUMMARY

Karen Maine’s Rosaline is a breezy whimsical charmer – and it’s mainly thanks to the star in the titular role, Kaitlyn Dever. Yep, this is Dever’s film through and through. Her turn as the “other girl” in this Romeo and Juliette reimagining is nothing short of special. Her screen presence is off the carts, as are her comedic talents. Put another in Rosaline’s shoes, and the movie would surely not be half as amusing. And that’s because the story is fairly safe and cliched. That’s not to say there aren’t fun and silly moments on display, as this movie is probably the definition of “cute.” Predictable? Yes. Cute? Very! The movie also boasts nice costume work and production design. Add in some Gen Z flavoring and a game cast (especially Dever), and you’ve got a witty and watchable good time.
