REVIEW SUMMARY
The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild is sadly not an animated adventure for the ages. It’s more of a franchise bottom feeder. That is to say that there was no need for this movie, nor is there anything much for fans of the “The Ice Age” series. It’s also very much a sad spinoff of association - a not so interesting one at that. Are there laughs to be had for the little ones? Likely, yes. For adults? I’d say a giggle or two is the most you’ll get out of it. Listen, animated fare can’t always be as groundbreakingly fantastical as say Encanto, as there is certainly a need for goofy distraction. And that’s ultimately what this film serves as, a bit of “fluff” - screen babysitting if you will. Ok, so maybe there are a couple of lessons around things like family and responsibility, but it’s bottom of the barrel stuff – nothing you won’t find done better anywhere else. So, unless you are an “Ice Age” super fan, or a particularly big admirer of Simon Pegg (who voices our titular character), then I’d say you’re better off keeping this film on Ice!
