The Intruder is a rather uninspired thriller that admittedly has its moments. As you might expect with a movie like this, the plot is fairly ludicrous (par for the course I suppose), but it's the predictability and repetitiveness of it all that drags things down - way down. As a matter of fact, if you caught the film's trailer, then you've pretty much seen how the whole thing plays out. It's a shame too, as Dennis Quaid gives a truly great unhinged performance that takes creepy to a whole new level (think Jack Nicholson in the Shining and Nicholas Cage in, well, everything). And while there are a handful of fun jump scares here, the suspense level never gets passed the “medium - low" marker. So unless you’re at a teen girl sleepover looking for cheap frights, this movie likely won’t do the trick.
