REVIEW SUMMARY
Yesterday will no doubt be the most irresistibly charming musical journey you'll take all year! That is to say, it's a delightful little movie that lays on a slab of sweetness really thick. However, the premise, while wholly captivating, is admittedly bogged down at times by the slightly clumsy love story attached to it. I also imagine some viewers may find the film's ending to be a bit of a let down given, you know, all the Hollywood clichés they crammed into the closing act. Luckily however, the majority of the film works really well due in great part to the talents of Himesh Patel and the cast at hand. The one exception here being Kate McKinnon though, whose cartoon-like presence once again fails to mesh well in this onscreen world. Is it really that hard to find the right film for McKinnon? As for the handling of the iconic Beatles music catalogue - it's all nicely executed, surely giving fans of the Fab Four something to cheer about and dance along to. So, do yourself a favour and don't "let it be," but rather "come together" to see Yesterday today!
