5. JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 4

An unrelenting jaw dropper, John Wick: Chapter 4 delivers an epic action experience like no other. The extreme violence is at a fever pitch here, with the body count at its highest yet (and that’s saying something). With high stakes, genuine surprises, a neon-soaked backdrop, and a pulsating soundtrack, this all out cinematic assault earns every minute of its near 3-hour runtime!

4. BARBIE

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is a gloriously subversive cinematic spectacle with dazzle to spare. What could have simply been a generic adventure set within the vast IP of Mattel’s Barbie, instead becomes a multilayered meta-comedy with resonating messages for days. In short, Barbie is likely going to be the most imaginative viewing experience you’ll have all year. Life in plastic – it truly is fantastic!

3. SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse builds on the first instalment's immersive visual splendor to phenomenally great effect. It's also a sequel that does what it should - capture the spirit of the original and expand on it in meaningful and exciting ways. Still a love letter to the comic book medium, this film once more combines heartfelt character driven stories with awe-inspiring action. Superhero fatigue be damned, I can't wait to go "beyond' the Spider-Verse next!

2. OPPENHEIMER

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer will blow you away (pun intended). In fact, the film explodes into an engrossing triumph of filmmaking. The twisty visuals of Nolan's Inception and fast-moving chaos of Tenet have been traded in for a brainier and dialogue heavy character study. Luckily, J. Robert Oppenheimer’s story is a fascinating one. Add in jaw dropping visual and audio sequences and drool worthy cinematography, and it all adds up to one hell of a thunderously biting experience.

1. KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON

There's no two ways about it, Killers of the Flower Moon is a colossally grim and sobering achievement by Martin Scorsese and Co. From the vast cast of A-grade actors to the exhaustively detailed production design, the film is brimming with “cinematic epicness” throughout. And, should this in fact be Scorsese’s final film, it marks a fitting and poetic send-off – one that definitely warrants your attention - stat!
