When rockers Queen Barb and King Thrash set out to destroy the other music, Poppy and Branch embark on a daring mission to unite the trolls and save the diverse melodies from becoming extinct.
REVIEW SUMMARY
Trolls World Tour is a zippy jukebox adventure worth taking. In other words - it’s a big 'ol colourful distraction. Luckily, many (especially kids) are looking for some fun escapist entertainment these days. And if you're among them, then you've come to the right place. And for those that saw the Troll's first cinematic go round, then you’ll know to expect some big and bright glittery visuals. Yep, the pastel colour palate is once more running on maximum overdrive here, as every frame of this film is an explosion of vibrancy (it’s kind of like staring into a bowl of Fruity Pebbles for an hour and a half). The story itself is perhaps a bit too ambitious this time around however, as it really goes for some big-time world building compared to the previous instalment. Not only are there a lot more characters introduced, but there's now plenty of extra elements to this fantastical world to keep track of. There’s also the fact that the movie seemingly tries to incorporate some tricky “history of music” stuff. It’s a little clunky though, especially when toned down for the little ones. The good news is that the entire film is littered with catchy musical riffs from all genres. Seriously, there is literally something for everyone. Plus, the overarching “benefits of diversity” theme is a welcome one. So, while not the holy grail of musical animation, you will surely find Trolls World Tour to be an effective bit of fluffy-haired fun!
