REVIEW SUMMARY

Dave Franco’s directorial debut makes for one thrilling Airbnb nightmare! The film’s chilling achievements don’t just rest on the young director’s shoulders though, but also the capable cast of actors he had to play with. Each bring with them the believability needed for a story of this nature, without derailing it with over the top cliched performances. And while the paranoid plot is fairly straightforward, there’s some interesting themes that bubble up throughout that have to do with jealousy, sibling relations, reform, and forgiveness. It also helps that the characters are fairly relatable and react in reasonable ways. Well, that is until the slightly sloppy third act. It’s here that cracks in the logic start to show, and familiar horror tropes kick into high gear. But, in spite of all that, things end on a rather chilling note with some actual decent sequel possibilities. So yes, I’d say this rental is definitely worth the money!
