SYNOPSIS

After a Steppe bison hunting expedition 20,000 years ago in Europe during the Upper Paleolithic period goes awry, a young man struggles against the elements to find his way home, all the while developing a friendship with a wolf. This forges the tentative first bond between man and canine.

REVIEW SUMMARY

"Alpha is the visually stunning pre-historic coming of age survival film you didn’t know you needed. The film's visuals are jaw dropping at times and there are literal cliff hanger moments. I rarely recommend 3D, but definitely do it for this one. The acting from our lead boy is also impeccable and so is the canine - someone give that dog an award. Is that a thing? It should be a thing. I will say that this is not the movie for those that want a big plot or the usual “Hollywood” twists and turns. It's all pretty straightforward storytelling but done VERY effectively.”
