SYNOPSIS

Based on Kevin Kwan's novel of the same name

It is the first film by a major Hollywood studio in 25 years to feature Asian-Americans in the predominant leading roles since 1993's The Joy Luck Club

Centers on New York City Chinese American economics professor Rachel Chu, who accompanies her boyfriend to Singapore for his best friend's wedding, only to become thrust into the lives of Asia's rich and famous. She discovers that her boyfriend comes from a very wealthy family with a dark past, and that every woman wants him.

REVIEW SUMMARY

"Crazy Rich Asians is a real Summer treat that is crazy slick and rich with fun! There’s A LOT to like here: likable characters, glitzy razzle dazzle, an incredibly stylish production, and a fun soundtrack featuring popular American songs re-done in Chinese. The plot is for the most part effective, but a tad predictable (if you’ve seen a rom com before, you know the formula). The movie does do a nice job of mixing in elements of culture and history. All in all, this is a quality film that will almost undoubtedly be an uproarious crowd pleasure!"
