SYNOPSIS
Is the 13th nature documentary to be released by Disney under the Disneynature label.
This coming-of-age story follows an Adélie penguin named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarcticspring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. None of it comes easily for him, especially considering he’s targeted by everything from killer whales to leopard seals, who unapologetically threaten his happily ever after.
REVIEW SUMMARY
Without question, DisneyNature's Penguins will surely be the most adorable movie you’ll see all year! And yes, while this is like the hundredth penguins documentary to date, you'll be hard pressed not to fall completely in love with the focus of this film’s story - a sweet adelie penguin named "Steve." And while we don't know exactly why the filmmakers chose to follow Steve over the hundreds of thousands of other penguins he's surrounded by (or why he's even named Steve for that matter), you'll be glad they did, as his wondrous journey is one filled with humour, excitement and even danger. And unlike other nature docs, the film strays from giving too many "factoids" and overall stats, and instead concerns itself with solely telling Steve's particular narrative. And while this may irk knowledge hungry nature buffs, the general masses will be more than appeased with the results. As for the astounding visuals the film produces, do yourself a favour and see them on the biggest screen you can find. Now if only we can get a documentary about the making of this documentary to see just how they accomplished it all..
