5. SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME

After crashing websites with advance ticket sales, not to mention breaking the internet with casting rumours, Spider-Man: No Way Home did the impossible – pleased everybody with the ultimate love letter to the Spider-Man mythos. It’s also safe to say things get fairly emotional this time around. Does that mean you’ll cry during a Spider-Man movie? Probably. So, strap in and prepare for a web-infused ride of action, adventure, and crowd-pleasing surprises!

4. LICORICE PIZZA

Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza is a hilariously frenzied coming of age romp with brilliant performances all-round. It’s as farcical as it is genuine. It’s as heartwarming as it is cringeworthy. It’s, well, just plain hysterical most of the time. The retro 70s setting will also take a certain audience back in time with nostalgia overload. That is to say, there’s some really exquisite detail paid to the clothing and production design here. Yep, this is one “PTA joint” that does not disappoint!

3. PIG

Wait, Nicholas Cage’s pig movie is actually a swine and dandy tale of bittersweet passions? Believe it! Way more than meets the eye, Pig is littered with phenomenal performances – namely an intensely raw turn from Cage himself. But, for those looking for the next John Wick, look elsewhere. In exchange of a revenge-seeking action bonanza, we get an introspective character study with plenty to go hog wild over. Warning: squealing is a high probability!

2. THE POWER OF THE DOG

Impressively detailed, impeccably acted, and intricately layered, The Power of the Dog will have you roped in from start to finish! The plot is ripe with themes of toxic masculinity, male ego, sexuality, and the “American Dream.” It’s a real anxious journey, and one that takes its time to wash over you. That anxiety expertly builds throughout, leading to more than a few unnerving revelations along the way. In short, it’s doggone good cinema!

1. DUNE

Visually stunning and narratively challenging in the best ways possible, director Denis Villeneuve has not only made Dune watchable, but an epic in every sense of the word! The scope in which Villeneuve has created is awe inspiring, as are the performances and visual designs. It’s all so intricate and voyeuristic – another “hang any frame on the wall as a piece of art” type of film (warning - it's also the type of movie that will make you want to upgrade your TV size). Yes, Dune is that impressive!
