SYNOPSIS

Is a sequel/spin-off of the Men in Black film series that starred Will Smith & Tommy Lee Jones

After finding the MIB Brooklyn base, an eager woman is made an agent, sent to the London, and paired with the cocky Agent H. These two secret agents soon become involved in a series of alien attacks that send them traveling around the globe in order to find a mole in the MIB organization.

REVIEW SUMMARY

MIB International ultimately works itself into being a fairly fun franchise refresh. I mean, it's also fairly predictable and annoying at times, but fun nonetheless. Hemsworth deserves most of the credit here, as his onscreen charisma is Thor-level smooth, making him effortlessly likeable throughout. Thompson holds her own as well, giving way to a giddy geek-like character that is also fun to watch. I unfortunately don't have anything nice to say about Kumail Nanjiani as the voice of the mini alien servant Pawny, as he is the source of most of (if not all) the aforementioned annoying moments. Luckily, the film still boasts those sleek and shiny aesthetics, and features some impressive wildly weird special effects. Unfortunately however, the majority of the humour is cringey, if not out-dated (there's a Notebook joke and an Eyes Wide Shut reference). So, while nowhere close to the Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones joints of past, MIB International still manages to pack a decent enough summer popcorn punch.
