REVIEW SUMMARY

Much like Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch before it, The Gentlemen makes for yet another Guy Ritchie gangster gem! And thanks to a stacked cast of fine ‘ahem’ gentlemen, this twisty crime yarn is full of top-notch performances that elevate the entertainment factor of it all. As an uncharacteristically brash bad guy, Henry Golding is perhaps having the most fun here, while Hugh Grant is a notable delight playing a rather wormy private eye. Ritchie’s signature intertwining of characters and stories is on point as well, all building to a nice crescendo by the end. Admittedly however, things do take a little while to get going, as there is a lot of groundwork to be laid with an abundance of informative storytelling to be told. But once all the players enter the game and their various motives take shape, it’s a non-stop raucous ride ‘til the end! This is one violently showy return to form from Ritchie that'll have you cheering in your seat.
