REVIEW SUMMARY

I was never not entertained watching Venom. But that’s not to say the movie is “great," or even “good” for that matter. Ok, the whole thing is pretty much a hot mess - but it's an amusing one! Tom Hardy does some really interesting stuff in his role, while the other actors aren't given nearly as much to work with. Some of Michelle Williams dialogue is actually pretty cringe-worthy (the filmmakers do know she has been nominated for multiple Oscars right?). It all goes horribly down hill in the last act with a rushed ending that amounts to complete and total nonsense. And sure this movie has pacing issues and is a mishmash of tones, but it's far from being the worst superhero film out there (as some critics may have you believe). In the end, Venom gets in enough licks to send fanboys home happy.
