REVIEW SUMMARY

It’s not Hitchcock, but it’s a decently taut thriller. Yes, Windfall is a stripped-down suspenseful viewing experience – for the most part. It’s not a game changer, and it certainly isn’t going to leave you “shook” by any means, but it’ll entertain just fine. And at a breezy 90 mins, this is an easily digestible distraction. Plus, Jason Segel, Lily Collins, and Jesse Plemons all play off each other beautifully here. They are all so different, yet the overall “puzzle” works because of it. Now, you may actually find yourself laughing more than you do biting your nails. I’d even go so far to say that the dark humour works better than the thrills. That’s mostly because the story becomes predictable by the midway point, thus lessoning the intrigue. And by the end, well, it’s more than a little inconsequential. But hey, they journey is amusing. So, if you’re in the mood for some noir fun with an enjoyable trio of leads, then Windfall will get the job done!
