REVIEW SUMMARY
The Mitchells VS. The Machines is National Lampoon’s Vacation meets a family friendly Terminator. It’s got the madcap adventure and humour of the Lego Movie, with the stylized animation of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. And, seeing as how all those films are grandiose entertaining achievements, this too fits the bill. It really is a fun ride, one full of genuine laughs and endearment. Yep, between all the silly shenanigans and commentary on our technology obsessions, there is a real moving story about family and acceptance. In fact, there’s plenty of hints about our lead teen character, Katie, being gay – which amounts to a refreshing change to the norm. The voice cast is also an amusing bunch, with everyone giving their respective characters some lively (and at time hilarious) reads. So yes, colourful, meaningful, and just plain fun, The Mitchells VS. The Machines is a pleasant animated surprise the whole family can enjoy. So, best to put your phone down for this one and sit back and enjoy the journey!
