REVIEW SUMMARY

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway amounts to silly amusement with a big heart. Yes, there’s plenty of bouncy fun to be had here, with James Corden’s witty charm once more working overtime to entertain the kiddies as our titular hare. And entertained they will be. I mean, how could they not, with all the obnoxious slap stick and high energy shenanigans going on? Ok, so it’s a little overstuffed with a bus load of new characters (both human and of the fluffy variety), and the constant jabbering can admittedly get tiresome at times, but there’s also some enjoyable meta-humour to be found. Yes, the self-aware story is a rather welcome one, even leading to some (gasp) clever laughs for the adult crowd. But no matter how old you are, you’ll be hard pressed to not be taken by the cuteness on display. Yes, the special effects team deserve major kudos for their highly detailed work, making for plenty of cute and cuddly creations to behold. So, even if it’s once more not as magically whimsical as the beloved source material, Peter Rabbit’s second big screen go-around makes for a harmlessly hoppy adventure for the entire family.
