SYNOPSIS

Is based on the book series of the same name by R. L. Stine and is the second installment in Netflix’s Fear Street Trilogy

In 1978, Camp Nightwing is divided by the campers and counselors who hail from the prosperous town of Sunnyvale and the campers and maintenance staffers from the downtrodden town of Shadyside, but when horrors from their towns shared history come alive, they must band together to solve a terrifying mystery before it is too late.

REVIEW SUMMARY

If Fear Street Part One was Scream meets Stranger Things, then Part Two is Friday the 13th on acid – and that’s a good thing! Yep, the retro summer camp frights are executed to near bloody perfection here. The filmmakers sure know how to tap into nostalgia, while also blending in their own narrative threads. The story adds even more layers to the supernatural mystery at hand, and, no spoilers of course, but it all looks to be headed for a wholly unique (not to mention terrifying) crescendo. The movie also nails the casting, once again offering up a group of incredibly likeable characters to root for (always the key to these slasher flicks). The kills are especially brutal this time around, sure to make for plenty of wincing and watching through face-covered fingers. And, with a particularly killer soundtrack, the more often than not sexy fun never lets up. Yes, Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy is proving to be one surprisingly lovely horror homage with exceptional execution. Bring on the third!
