REVIEW SUMMARY
Sorry creepy doll fans, Brahms: The Boy 2 makes for the worst kind of sequel- it adds nothing new to warrant a second go around and actually diminishes what the first one accomplished (not that 2016's The Boy was a major masterpiece to begin with). Needless to say, it's all very paint-by-numbers in the plot department, with an abundance of predictable circumstances throughout. And with this film not having the benefit of the previous instalment's surprise "twist," its gimmicky evil doll shtick just comes across as overdone and lame. The performances aren’t much better either, as you can almost see the regret in Katie Holmes' eyes while she no doubt phones it in. Heck, the lifeless doll has more onscreen charisma than anybody else here. All that to say, this uninspired Boy is probably better left on the shelf from now on. Better yet - the cutting room floor.
