SYNOPSIS
When a massive hurricane hits her Florida town, young Haley ignores the evacuation orders to search for her missing father, Dave. After finding him gravely injured in their family home, the two of them become trapped by the rapidly encroaching floodwaters. With the storm strengthening, Haley and Dave discover an even greater threat than the rising water level -- a relentless attack from a pack of gigantic alligators.
REVIEW SUMMARY
There’s no denying it, Crawl surfaces as a surprisingly tension filled chomping good time at the movies! That is to say, this is an impeccably executed edge-of-your-seat creature feature with (gasp) likeable characters to boot. And while it’s not breaking the mould made by other "natural horror flicks" the likes of Jaws, it fits right in with the best of them. You see, Crawl masterfully plays on our most primal fears and does so with more than the clichéd (and overused) jump scare tactic. And while things do get bat-sh** crazy at times, it's all admittedly glorious to watch! I mean, some of the set pieces can be rather ludicrous (ok, more than some), but they are always fun. And it's not all bloody gore either, as this film knows exactly when to use restraint and take itself seriously. But when the the reigns are loosened and those big 'ol gators go on the prowl, you better hold on tight! With that said, I think it's safe to say that this year's Summertime popcorn nail-biter has arrived, and is ready for you to sink your teeth in... or is it the other way around?
