REVIEW SUMMARY
Don’t let the modest presentation fool you, Christopher Macbride’s Flashback is an inspired mind-bender with plenty to sink your teeth into. Yes, this is one fascinating tale of love, life, and infinite possibilities - all laid out in a scrambled story of thrilling intrigue. In short – it’s as compelling as it is complex. Of course, that complexity might be a bit too much for some, as the film’s multiverse-awakening plot never gives anything in the way of overt answers. It’s admittedly a bit overwhelming, sometimes frustrating, but luckily, never uninteresting. Let’s just say this is one movie you’ll be thinking about for a long while afterwards (best to clear the brain space now). Fortunately, Flashback also has a solid cast of actors to hold things together. Dylan O’Brien is particularly impressive, mixing brooding torment with just the right amount of his boyish charm. The kid’s clearly a star, and he adds a nice bit of versatility to his resume here. But, with the scattered narrative standing as the main attraction, the true star of this movie is perhaps its editor. With that, take a bow Matt Lyon!
