REVIEW SUMMARY

Gloria Bell, or as it could also be called: Julianne Moore’s Glorious Dance Party, is a highly enjoyable character study of a woman of a certain age. Moore IS this film (literally being in every scene), and it’s easy to come to the conclusion that she is nothing short of a gift from the Cinema Gods. Her performance, and everybody else's for that matter, is understated and honest - always feeling like it is coming from an authentic place. With the film littered with scenes of self reflection and struggles to feel alive, it's likely not going to please moviegoers looking for more narrative zip in their stories. Yes, the film can feel sluggish in its more mundane moments, but Gloria Bell is full of wonderful heart through and through. Dance on Julianne, dance on!
