Godzilla: King Of The Monsters amounts to a bloated CGI slugfest that gets more ludicrous with every passing scene (I mean, did you know there are aliens in this universe now?). There are just too many insipid things thrown our way this time around – and no, I’m not talking about the “monsters.” The film features an excess of useless (and frankly boring) human characters who bring forth a constant barrage of  mindless decisions, lame conflicts, and baffling motivations. As for the monsters, the "Titans" we all came to see, well, they are pretty much what you’d expect: big, loud, and full of special effects. That doesn’t mean they aren’t fun to watch - au contraire, these massive monstrosities are the most entertaining thing about the film! The “smashy smashy” finale is major overkill though, but so is the movie itself, which at under 2 and a half hours, feels like well over 3! Would it have been too much to ask Godzilla to trim a little more fat here?!
