REVIEW SUMMARY
Here’s the deal - Marry Me is a silly star vehicle for JLO and little else. It’s a rom-com with catchy music and shiny clothes. It’s got lots of the genre staples (sassy friend and cute dog anyone?). It also has Owen Wilson, who certainly holds his own opposite Lopez. But, do they have the requisite chemistry for a film of this nature? I think so. I mean, the whole thing is ludicrous, but I could feel a connection between the 2. The story may be a bit too unbelievable for its own good though. This isn’t a rom-com game changer of cinematic proportions (by any means), but it also doesn’t pretend to be something that it is not. It’s an unapologetically pleasant and sweet viewing experience for a very particular audience (and nobody else, really). The comedy may or may not be intentional all the time, but hey, at least you’ll be laughing. Marry Me is, by all means, one big lavish Jennifer Lopez commercial. And, well, if you’re a fan, then that’s not such a bad thing.
