REVIEW SUMMARY
Timo Tjahjanto’s Nobody 2 is a summer action blast of Looney Tunes-style mayhem and over-the-top video game-worthy kills — with all the heart of its predecessor. And, at a sleek 90 minutes, it makes for an extra breezy viewing experience. Sure, the final battle could’ve used a bit more setup, and the pacing gets a little rushed, but it’s still an absolute riot. We’re talking a booby-trapped amusement park warzone, an unhinged Sharon Stone busting out a freestyle dance, a gunfight down a water slide, and a mass explosion set to Celine Dion’s “The Power of Love” — and that’s just scratching the surface. Like the first film, this sequel knows exactly what it is and what its audience wants: brutal, cathartic, balls-to-the-wall action. And, for his part, Bob Odenkirk once again pairs affable charm with bone-crunching believability — Hutch Mansell is as easy to root for as he is deadly to underestimate. Plus, Tjahjanto’s direction and the razor-sharp editing turn the chaos into a hyper-stylized feast for the eyes. Beneath all the fists, bullets, and explosions, though, lies a genuine heart. At its core, this is still the story of a man’s love for his family — and how life (and more than a few psychopaths) can get in the way. And honestly, who could hate a premise like that? Nobody.
