REVIEW SUMMARY
Project Power is as electrifying as it is entertaining! It’s also another Netflix “superhero” film that knocks it out of the park (see The Old Guard for another). What we get is a splashy and impressive looking adrenaline ride that is just the thing to satisfy those missing the usual Summer blockbuster action fare. The cast is also in it to win it, as Jamie Foxx is all kinds of endearing here, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt proves he hasn’t missed a beat in his time away from the screen. Dominique Fishback is equally enjoyable, easily holding her own alongside her veteran co-stars. The film also looks great, as it doubles as a wonderfully stylized love letter to all the visual wonder New Orleans has to offer. It's actually rather refreshing to have the setting not be New York for a change. Now, admittedly, the movie does suffer from some tonal unevenness at times. You see, it’s got gritty action, plenty of life lessons, lots of superhero tropes, and of course, good ol' fashioned humour. It just doesn’t always mesh well, especially the heavy-handed “what’s your power?” moments. However, Project Power definitely remains a worthwhile watch, especially for fans of compelling concepts and kick ass characters. Go ahead, take the pill!
