SYNOPSIS

Based on the later years of the lives of the comedy double act Laurel and Hardy

Laurel and Hardy -- the world's greatest comedy team -- face an uncertain future as their golden era of Hollywood films remain long behind them. The duo set out to reconnect with their adoring fans by touring variety halls in Britain in 1953.

REVIEW SUMMARY

Stan and Ollie is nothing short of a delightfully charming film handled with care. The performances alone are chock-full of these amazing nuances with John C. Reilly in particular shining in a career highlight portrayal of Oliver Hardy. The story we get is both sweet and emotional, giving way to genuine tender moments. And while it may draw some almost-yawns from contemporary audiences accustomed to more flash on their cinema screen, it never falls into "boring" territory.  Stan and Ollie is a worthy onscreen salute to a couple of legends who deserve it!
