REVIEW SUMMARY

You wanan get nuts? Let’s get nuts! Because yes, Andy Muschietti’s The Flash is pretty damn nuts – in the best way possible, that is. A nonstop crowd-pleaser wrapped in genuine action and comedy, there’s a lot to like about the Scarlet Speedster’s first starring film. Of course, ‘ol Flash isn’t alone here – not by a long shot. Not only do we get the return of Ben Affleck’s “father figure” Batman, but Michael Keaton once more dons the cape and cowl to stellar results. Keaton, clearly relishing this opportunity, takes a big bite out of every line of dialogue, expertly bringing his version of Batman to the “present day.” And while Sasha Calle also makes for a kickass edition as Supergirl, it’s really Ezra Miller who impresses the most (it is their film after all). Offscreen controversies aside, Miller puts on an acting clinic playing dual Barrys – each with their own unique personality quirks. It’s an endearing buddy comedy with Miller playing both roles – no easy feat. But wait, there’s more… I just won’t spoil the surprises here. Let’s just say the cameos, call-backs and overall fan service add up to one hell of a good time. In fact, it’s the most fun a superhero film has been in ages. Perfect? Not quite. But, a few instances of shoddy CGI and some underdeveloped characters can’t stop The Flash from becoming a fanboys giddy dream come true! Don’t walk, run to the theatres to see this one!
