Wildly entertaining from start to finish, The Lost City is way better than it has any right to be. I mean, the plot alone is as schlocky as it gets, and yet, somehow, it works! Ok, I guess it’s not that big of a secret as to why it comes together so nicely – it’s all thanks to the cast at hand. Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum make for a heavenly comedic duo, with onscreen chemistry to spare. Amidst the eye-rolling silliness, you’ll very much be invested in these characters. Bullock’s appeal is effortless at this point, but she is far from phoning it in here. There’s a great deal of physical comedy and even some heartfelt reads from the actress. And while Daniel Radcliffe has his moments doing the slimy bad guy thing, it’ comedian Da’Vine who steals things with her supporting role. It’s all in the delivery folks, and trust me, Da’Vine has got a hilarious way of delivering. But going back to the plot, let’s just say it’s not the most coherent script ever written. Yes, there are plot holes galore and an immense amount of unbelievability at play. But, with a few surprises (no spoilers) and a couple of legitimate funny scenarios, it gets the job done. Make that, the actors get the job done!
