REVIEW SUMMARY
Nicole Holofcener’s You Hurt My Feelings is the ultimate domestic dramedy. It’s smart, authentic and relatable. It’s also laugh out loud funny. Clearly our writer/director knows her way around dialogue and human interactions, but she was also blessed with a great cast. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is exquisite here. The nuances and everyday behaviour are wonderful to take in. Ok, you may be asking - why should we be praising people for acting “normal”? Because, let’s face it, it’s not only hard to do “normal” naturally, but it’s also hard to make “normal” interesting. Holofcener not only achieves this tenfold, but makes it entertaining as all heck. The plot is simple, yet meaningful. The characters are funny, yet identifiable. The themes universal, yet personal. You get the point, I’m sure. But, if your still not sold, just go back to the fact that it stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and know you are in great hands, both comedically and dramatically.
